Ian Clothier, Andrew Hornblow
Waiwhakaiho River, New Zealand

The River Speaks project connects live river data from the Waiwhakaiho River to the project website, where the data controls the audio part. This audio is one part of the installation consisting of a small assemblage of indigenous vocal recordings linking North and South by featuring Inuit and Maori artists. The audio, video and installation all are reference points to rivers and flow Wai, which means water or flow in Maori, the term is placed very highly according to eminent Maori activists
